Subway ran from 12 February to 1 March 2026 at The Gallery Omotesando in Tokyo, an exhibition of works by Mark Bode painted on original New York City subway maps.
The New York City subway is the birthplace of modern graffiti, the system through which style spread until writing became an all-city language, and the Bodeverse supplied that language its mascots and its lettering. The maps themselves are now being phased out of circulation. By painting his characters across the map, Bode makes the statement directly. The Bodeverse is all city.
On 14 February the gallery hosted a live cartoon concert, the performance format Vaughn established from projected comics, live narration, and character voices, continued by Mark in the traditional Bode style. The exhibition catalogue is available through SHDW Gallery.
